    Athletics Hosts 48th Annual Awards Ceremony The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2012-2013 season.

Facing off against Greensboro College, the 4th-seeded Bishops and 5th-seeded Pride fought to a 0-0 double overtime draw, but GC advanced to semifinal play in Martinsville, Va. thanks to a 5-3 edge in penalty kicks.

Sophomore Alambi Clarke netted the only goal of the contest, unassisted, in the 77th minute. Freshman keeper Fabian Broich did the rest in goal, tallying a pair of saves en route to his first shutout.

It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.

The Bishops had previously opened play on Saturday with a 2-2 double overtime time draw with Birmingham Southern.
