Rocky Mount, N.C. - The USA South's 2013 Football Media Day was held Monday, July 29th, at Averett University. Each of the Conference's nine football coaches addressed the media and gave their thoughts on the upcoming season. The USA South preseason poll was also unveiled at the beginning of the event, with the Battling Bishops earning an 8th-place billing.
"We obviously have some obstacles to overcome," said NCWC head coach Jeff Filkovski, who is entering his first year with the program. "But with players like James Wallace, Wes Thompson and Jacques Alston, we definitely have somthing to build on."
The Battling Bishops will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary this fall, and the program is looking to rebound from a 3-7 season a year ago. With roughly 40 returners and 60 newcomers, Wesleyan will certainly have a new look, beginning with a coaching staff that boasts six new faces.
In preparation for Monday's press conference, the league released its 2013 Football Media Guide, which previews the upcoming seasons of all nine USA South football institutions. The guide can be found HERE or by visiting the football page of the USA South website, which also houses the complete preseason coaches poll, as well as photos and video from the event.
The 2013 USA South football schedule kicks-off on Friday, September 6th, as N.C. Wesleyan travels to face Stevenson. The following day, the remaining eight Conference teams will begin their seasons with non-conference action.
