Everett Gymnasium

Everett Gymnasium

Welcome to the Home of the Battling Bishops!  Everett Gymnasium and the adjoining Taylor Center house the offices of the North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics and the Exercise Science faculty members.

Built in 1963, the main gymnasium is the home of Don Scalf Court and seats up to 1,200 people. Everett provides a great homecourt advantage for three Bishop squads: men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and women's volleyball.

The Bishop men’s basketball team plays an aggressive, fast tempo game that makes it a threat to all opponents, while the Battling Bishop women have combined with the men’s squad to capture 14 USA South Athletic Conference (formerly Dixie) regular season and/or tournament championships.

The volleyball team also calls Everett Gym home and consists of outstanding female athletes who not only are successful on the court, but are top-notch competitors in the classroom as well. The team has experienced much success in recent years, putting together a streak of six consecutive 20-win seasons from 2007 to 2012.

Everett proudly displays numerous banners earned by our various Bishop athletic squads over the years, as well as four retired jerseys: #44 Roger Taylor (MBB), #11 Jetanna McClain (VB), #41 Terry Wright (MBB) and #35 Misty Carneal (WBB).
